What Is a Smart Lens?
A smart lens is an advanced eye surgery procedure in which the natural lens is removed and replaced with a foldable artificial lens. It is most often used for cataract treatment, but in selected patients it can also help reduce dependence on glasses. With trifocal, EDOF and toric options, the goal is better vision at far, intermediate and near distances.
Who Is It For?
Patients who want more comfortable vision for distance, reading and computer work, those with cataracts, patients whose corneas are not suitable for laser surgery, and individuals with astigmatism may be candidates. Advantages and Limitations
The biggest benefit is a significant reduction in the need for glasses. However, side effects such as night glare, halos and changes in contrast sensitivity may occur. Therefore, the decision should be based on lifestyle and professional needs.
